First steps

  • Get lots of wedding magazines and start your Pinterest research to decide on your theme
  • Appoint bridesmaids and groomsmen
  • Start trying on wedding dresses
  • Draw up a guest list
  • Finalise date – make sure you check with key people on your guest list
  • Plan your engagement party if you’re having one
  • Begin your venue research and plan your budget

  • Visit lots of venues and book your favourite

 

12 months before the wedding date

  • Send out save the dates
  • Order wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses
  • Book DJ/live band/entertainment
  • Book photographer and videographer
  • Have a meeting with your venue to discuss your ideas and timeline
  • Look into wedding insurance options
  • Book your registrar

 

9 months…

  • Research and select florist
  • Discuss menus with your venue

  • Run-through the day’s events with your venue
  • Begin preening with manicures, pedicures and haircuts
  • Try on wedding outfits one final time

  • Check in with all suppliers (on the phone or via your venue)
  • Pack everything you’ll need for the day and the honeymoon

 

On the day

  • Check in with your on-the-day venue contact and relax – this should be the time for you to stop organising and start enjoying your special day
